Varicosity treatment

Varicose veins or varicose veins - a disease in which develop nodular dilation of the subcutaneous veins, which is accompanied by pain and heaviness in the legs. The most prone to varicose veins are the lower extremities in females.

*The effect, result, risks, and recovery period depend on the individual peculiarities of the human body.

Varicose veins (varicose veins) is a problem faced by more than 30% of women and about 20% of men. Varicose veins are an inflammation of the walls of the veins and the appearance of nodules on them.

The main signs of the disease are:

  • vascular asterisks;
  • increased skin pigmentation;
  • varicose veins protruding on the surface of the skin;
  • ulcers, blisters, dermatitis;
  • Swelling of the feet.

How the disease progresses

It begins with the appearance of nodules on the back or inner surface of the leg. They are called “cyanotic clusters”. If you do not start treatment for varicose veins in time, there is a risk of developing phlebitis – inflammation of the blood vessels. A more severe stage is thrombophlebitis, which is accompanied by the formation of blood clots. Complications of varicose veins can lead to edema, ulcers (including purulent – trophic) and even heart attack.
Causes of varicose veins:

  • hormonal imbalance;
  • overweight and obesity;
  • heredity;
  • pregnancy;
  • nutrition features.

Regardless of the cause, you should not delay the treatment of varicose veins, because it can cause all sorts of complications. If you have symptoms of the disease, you should consult an experienced specialist at the CERTUS clinic. Your doctor may prescribe medication to relieve the unpleasant symptoms or suggest laser vein removal.

The main methods of treatment of varicose veins and their distinctive features

Varicose veins manifest themselves in different ways, and depending on this, different treatments are used. In modern medicine, three effective methods are used:

  1. Sclerotherapy;
  2. Endovenous laser coagulation;
  3. Classical phlebectomy (venectomy).

Sclerotherapy – the most gentle and minimally invasive way. With the help of sclerosing, small diameter veins and vascular asterisks are removed. At any part of the vein, a special surfactant is injected – sclerosant, which promotes “gluing” or overgrowing of this area.

Phlebectomy is recommended in the early stages of the disease. This surgery comes in several types. The purpose of the operation is to remove the affected subcutaneous veins of the lower extremities with impaired blood flow. Remove either a small vein running from the foot to the knee on the back of the leg, or a large one – it runs along the inner surface of the entire leg.

In the groin, ankle joint (on the inside) and in the knee joint, small incisions are made through which a flexible probe is passed. It is used to remove veins. Sometimes the method of stitching and ligation of individual veins through special skin punctures is used. Sutures are applied to the puncture sites.

Sclerotherapy involves outpatient treatment: the patient is released home after surgery. After phlebectomy – left in the hospital for 1-3 days. During operations, either general anesthesia or local anesthesia, which is supplemented with sedatives, is used. The recovery period in each case is different, but on average takes up to 2 months. Be sure to use elastic bandages for 2 weeks after surgery.

Treatment with sclerotherapy and venectomy has its own contraindications: running varicose veins, cardiovascular disease, oncology, various inflammatory processes in the legs, coagulation disorders, diabetes, old age or pregnancy.

Laser removal of varicose veins

Endovenous laser coagulation (EVLK) – laser treatment of varicose veins. Modern laser vein removal has proven not only a high rate of recovery of patients, but also a good cosmetic effect. EVLK procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, does not require a long stay in the hospital, after which the patient can return to daily activities.

Indications for laser vein removal:

  • dilation of the great or small saphenous vein;
  • small number of varicose tributaries;
  • smooth course of the trunk of the great or small saphenous vein;
  • trophic disorders of the lower leg.

As for other species, laser treatment of varicose veins is not performed for problems with blood clotting, pregnancy, lactation, if there is a diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis, severe comorbidities or various inflammations in the legs.

Laser varicose veins treatment – advantages of the method:

  • Safety and minimal pain after surgery.
  • No long rehabilitation period.
  • No skin incisions, scars, scars.
  • A quick return to normal life.
  • No need for hospitalization.

For endovenous laser coagulation of veins in the clinic “CERTUS” uses modern equipment with the introduction of a single laser radial fiber with a wave frequency of 1470 nm. At the tip of the fiber is a special lens through which the laser radiation is scattered and distributed evenly around the circle in the working area, thus creating the desired effect.

ENDOVENOUS LASER COAGULATION

  1. The laser fiber is inserted into a diseased vein.
  2. Laser energy coagulates a vein.
  3. The laser light guide is slowly removed and the vein sticks together.
  4. The vein is replaced by fibrous tissue and resorbs after a while.

How is the treatment of varicose veins in the clinic “CERTUS”

Pre-procedure examination: 1 hour.
Duration: 30 minutes to 1 hour. EVLK in the clinic is performed on an outpatient basis – after the procedure the patient goes home.
Anesthesia: Local tumescent.
Recovery period. Within 2-4 weeks after the procedure, the patient wears special compression underwear (tights, stockings).

Side effects

  • Bruising along the vein;
  • Feeling of tension in the vein when bending the limbs;
  • Rise in temperature to subfebrile figures on the first day after the intervention;
  • Painful pain along the vein.

Risks: Minimized.
Result: Permanent, venous lesions disappear.

The effect, results, risks, and recovery period are individual to each patient.
