Malarplasty

The surgery is performed by one of three methods:

1. Implant installation – due to this method the malar region is augmented, endoprosthetics of the cheekbones is performed. The incisions are made on the mucous surface of the cheek or in the lower eyelid.
2. Cheekbone lipofilling – the insertion of the patient’s own fat.
3. Subcutaneous injections of hyaluronic acid fillers.

Indications for malarplasty

• Malar asymmetry.
• Sunken cheeks.
• Excessive plumpness of the face.
• Deformity of malar bones due to injuries.

Malarplasty is recommended for patients who have reached the age of 18 years when the chondro-osseous skeleton is formed.

General contraindications: cancer disease, cardiovascular and acute infectious diseases, arterial hypertension, thyroid disorders, diabetes mellitus, blood-clotting disorder.

How is the surgery performed in “Certus” clinic?

Pre-surgery examination: 1 hour.
Duration of the surgery: 1-2 hours. The patient stays in a clinical setting for 1 day.
Anaesthesis: general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedating medications.
Incision options. On the inner surface of the cheek or in the lower eyelid. The scars after the surgery are not noticeable.
*Recovery period: swellings and bruises (subcutaneous hemorrhages) and other side effects subside within 2-3 weeks after the surgery.
*Side effects: temporary bruises, swellings, numbness, difficulty chewing, a slight sensation of pain.
*Risks: infectious complications, malar asymmetry, implant failure or displacement.
*Result: after the implant installation – permanent, after hyaluronic acid injections – temporary (6-12 months), in the case of lipofilling – an additional procedure is needed to achieve a long-term effect.
